Crime Prevention

Preventative measures for cowboy gear & collectibles against theft is to mark your tack!

  • Complete a listing of all equipment and gear. Include, color, serial numbers, unique markings and personal ID numbers.
  • Personal ID numbers should be your Driver's License number with State (i.e. CA A1234567)
  • Photographs make excellent supporting documents (see below)
  • Complete a property inventory for all equipment and use our saddle identification form. Attach photos to forms for easy reference.
  • To aid in tracking the rightful ownership Les Vogt's California Classic bits, Les has each bit serial numbered. This information should be included in your insurance data and kept in a safe place.

Report crime! Law enforcement officers cannot solve crimes they do not know about!

Photo documentation:

We suggest that photos be taken of all gear. Take these to a photo shop and have them put the photos on a CD or make two copies. Put one copy in a safe place at home and another with a friend or in a safety deposit box. If access to a digital camera can be had, this process is even easier. Along with the CDs, keep copies of any purchase receipts; mark down any dates or data on the gear. Keep a copy with the CDs.

In the event of theft, the CDs and the data will give police or sheriff deputies immediate access to pictures that can be sent to other authorities to help recover your gear.

If any of the gear is sold, note the markings and the driver's license number on the sales receipt.
