All the braiding at California Classics is done by master braider Aaron Winchell, in the traditional California style.

Aaron makes our signature Central Coast Ranch Rawhide (CCRR) all by hand the traditional way, because natural rawhide has more "life" than factory rawhide that's been treated with chemicals and salts and machinery.

Each braiding "string" is cut to size, split and beveled by hand in Aaron's ranch workshop.

California-style braiding means the strings are wet, soapy, and slippery so they can be pulled very tight.

This leaves no gaps or "air" between the strings in the finished bosal or reins, which means much greater durability and longevity.
