VISALIA HUMANE BIT MOUTHPIECES SILVER SPADE BIT

Offered for sale individually are these vintage, never used mouthpieces.
They were originally made for classic Visalia Humane bits.
These mouthpieces are monel rather than stainless. They were made by North and Judd for Visalia. No, they are not a spade bit port, but a very useable mouthpiece favored for over 80 years. If you are making bits, a few mouthpieces can speed up the process in time to have a selection before Christmas.
These have been stored away for safe keeping for decades, but have now been found to offer a new generation the opportunity to make bits. The overall width is 6.5 inches with a 2 inch port (from bottom of the cannon) and 5.25 inch inside mouth.
Bitmakers: replace damaged mouthpieces in original Humane bits to restore collectible value with one of these genuine mouthpieces. Making a mouthpiece takes time. These mouthpieces may not only be time savers, but since they are authentic and marked, a Visalia Humane Bit can be truly restored without question.
Each is marked: Visalia, Humane and Never Rust.
Although for sale individually, we can combine multiple mouthpieces in one box to save on shipping.
If you have questions, please contact us immediately and we will answer in a timely manner.

G S Garcia
Highly Collectible, Very Limited Edition (65 of 100)

GS Garcia started his saddle shop in Santa Margarita, CA a few miles from here, so his basis came from the cradle of the Pacific Slope tradition. He moved his shop to Elko, NV & continued as a respected harness & saddlemaker who also hired men to make silver bits & spurs. His family continued on with the bits & spurs to become internationally known.

One of only 100 printed, this rare book is a limited edition. This is number 65 and was signed by the author David L. Van Meter in 1984. The embossed leatherette cover was protected by mylar. The binding is tight. The 9-inch by 11.25 inch book is in excellent condition & comes from a smoke free home. The pages remain bright with no foxing or discoloration. The somewhat yellow tone is from photographing indoors under standard lights.
Vintage photographs, primary material including shop records, ledgers, newspaper clippings, ads and Garcia catalogs detail the shop’s history as well as that of Elko in the 204 pages. The corralled wealth of information also includes many if not all of the Garcia workers over the years that crafted the body of the work produced at the Garcia shop.
Although GS did not lay his hand to the metal work, that is what spread the name. Original GS Garcia gear commands high prices in the collector’s realm today. There are a huge number of fakes & knock offs in the market. Of critical importance for collectors and history buffs alike is the section on the various maker marks. This will aid in the accurate identification of pieces. The detailed information contained in this important book may help a collector or a seller become more knowledgeable & save money, time & heart ache.

Large Silver & Gold Schaezlein Concho
This spectacular large concho by Schaezlein can be fitted for many applications. A massive piece measuring 3-3/4" in diameter, its size lends it to many possible uses. A cantle plate, large horn, album, purse, martingale or breast collar would truly be set off with this remarkable sterling piece.
Built around a gold horse head and antiqued, this is reminiscent of the 50 year commemoration concho for Sheila Varian on her remarkable CC-made martingale that will one day hang in the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Most engravers don't like antiquing because it truly reveals the nuances, or lack thereof, of their engraving skill or techniques.
The heavy rope encircling the horse provides not only dimension, but also some strength. Speculators predict that silver will be the go to means for investments this century.
Note: Although substantially the same, the photo shows a slightly different engraving treatment than the one for sale.

Bill Black Bosal |

The mark of a master |
Right now we have two of Bill Black's bosals available. Bill's bosals are different from our Heritage Hackamores. They offer a different fit and the "authority" sometimes desired in the arena. Trainers often seek Bill's bosals for their hackamore horses. We don't get many of these in, so this is a rare chance to add one to your tack collection.
For details and prices, please see our Bill Black Bosals page. |
