Julie Galas is a self-taught watercolorist. She has found her voice as an artist chronicling the subject matter closest to her heart: the Western lifestyle captured in candid moments. Her passion for art and ranch life began at an early age and she has successfully blended the two resulting in vivid images that capture the soul of contemporary cowboy life. Julie was a freelance graphic artist for over twenty years when she was compelled to redirect her talents to painting. For the past three years she has participated in the Cattlemen's Western Art Show and Sale in San Luis Obispo and now in Paso Robles, California. She also exhibited in the Visions of the West Art Show at Rancho Arroyo Grande in 200 and 2001 and the Aquarius 2002 Watercolor Show in SLO, where she won an award for her original "Knowin' the Ropes". For five weeks in the summer of 2001 she was one of two rodeo artists to exhibit at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs. In September, Julie will sow her work at the Farm Bureau Art show held at the Mid-State Fairgrounds for the second year. Currently she is represented by the Judith Hale Gallery in Los Olivos, the Carnegie Western Art Gallery in Paso Robles and California Classics in historic Templeton. Julie has completed numerous commissioned paintings. Most recently, Julie created theParkfield Rodeo poster for 2002 and the label for Saint's Peak Winery in Southern SLO Co. |
