 California Classics

California Classics sometimes feels the need to select one of our artists to spotlight. We are honored to announce that a very special lady to California Classics and all of us, Shelley Thompson Dodd, was selected to be the very first featured artist in December 2002.

Shelley was instrumental in the success of California Classics. She was the one who decorated the door, made signs for our show booth, decorated the windows announcing our move nearly five years ago. She made a charming cowboy Santa who drew in the public. Shelley was one of the first artists to appear at California Classics when we opened 8 years ago, was an artist in residence many times when we had to leave for a show on the road literally keeping the doors open, patiently signed many prints, donated innumerable pieces for charitable causes and had been a constant source of encouragement and a terrific resource for not only those of us at California Classics, but also a large portion of the horse community as well. Her work has been collected all over the USA and in Europe.

Sadly, Shelley lost her battle with cancer on Friday, January 24, 2003. Our prayers are with her and her family. She will be missed.
