Silk is a natural hollow fiber. It wicks away moisture. With care, it can last for years. A few should be dry cleaned. After a hand wash test, some silks can be cold water machine washed. Cool iron the damp wild rag "mascada" on the reverse side. Polys and rayons can be machine washed in cold water. Immediately taken out of a cool dryer or air dried, they often don't require ironing.
