Sheila Varian, a Cowgirl Hall of Fame member, is shown here with her fine ranch bridle horse "Lightly Bey." The surprise commemorative martingale was a gift from a group of her wonderful customers to celebrate her Golden Jubilee of breeding performance Arabian Horses. Heavy sterling rope edged conchos were engraved by Bob Schaezlein, the third generation of Schaezlein engravers, with the names of Sheila's National Champion stallions representing five generations of breeding excellence. The silver work and floral engraving was done by Rob Schaezlein, the fourth generation Schaezlein silversmith/engraver (see saddle/bridle silver).

Aaron carved the wild roses and made the martingale. California Classics was proud to be a part of this special celebration. Soon there will be a matching headstall inscribed with the names of the special bridle mares Sheila trained.

This martingale belongs to Jim Vangelos. He uses it when he works cattle, team sorts or shows cow horses (yes, martingales are legal for cow horses according to the judge's judge Bill Enk). This was made by Aaron at California Classics as a present from Jim's lovely wife, Ingrid. Martingales can be made from plain to fancy with or without extra straps. Call with your ideas and needs.
